Un escalier est une structure qui rythme l’espace, une progression destinée à s’élever. Chaque marche est un pas, l’étape d’un voyage vertical. Pratique, il relie des mondes différents, des étages, des hauteurs. Graphique, il offre un jeu de lignes et d’ombres, un motif répétitif qui capte le regard par son effet cranté et régulier. Simple ou ornementé, l’escalier incarne la progression. C’est un objet architectural à la fois fonctionnel et poétique, trace tangible des déplacements humains.
